To the Editor: The most recent National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients undergoing cytarabine-based induction therapy recommend the performance of a bone marrow biopsy 14–21 days after the initiation of therapy.1 These “Day 14” bone marrow biopsies (D14 BM Bx) are routinely performed to assess early response to induction therapy.
