Ward clerks at Scotland’s largest health board have voted “overwhelmingly” in favour of strike action in a dispute over pay and grading. Almost all (98%) of the administrators were balloted by the Unison trade union, which says it follows “years of delays” in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s review of their roles. Frances Carmichael, Unison branch secretary, told STV News the role of a ward clerk has evolved greatly over the years – but pay hasn’t kept up.

A community in Edinburgh insist a spate of suspected “faith-based hate” attacks which left five people injured will not define them. A white 36-year-old Scottish man has been charged in connection with the violence, which Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said appeared to be motivated by “anti-Muslim hatred”. Counter terrorism officers are investigating the incidents after footage emerged online appearing to show a bare-chested man carrying a large weapon in Leith Walk on Friday night.

Thousands of women across Scotland will be offered home HPV testing kits as part of a new effort to increase cervical cancer screening rates. A total of 22 GP practices across four health boards are rolling out the self-sampling tests following a successful pilot programme, with around 17,000 women expected to be eligible.
