Introduction Papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) is the second most prevalent subtype of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), accounting for about 15% of cases, following clear cell RCC (CCRCC) [1]. Despite its lower incidence compared to CCRCC, metastatic PRCC is associated with a particularly poor prognosis that is often worse than metastatic CCRCC [2]. This could be partly attributed to the fact that the treatment remains challenging for locally advanced and metastatic PRCC.
