Atlantic City will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first legalized casino to open outside of Nevada, Resorts International, on May 26, 1978, in less than three years. As time passes, there are fewer and fewer people who were adults when the first Atlantic City casino opened. Geoffrey Douglas, who published and edited The Sun, a weekly newspaper based in Absecon from 1978 to 1987, set his semi-autobiographical book, "Love in a Dark Place: A Novel" in mid-1980s Atlantic City.

ABSECON — When Taylor Swift received six Grammy Award nominations in November, Jacquelyn Manka, 32, decided to host a Grammy watch party in February at the Taylor Swift-themed Airbnb located here. "It was good. I ordered a pizza. It was nice to do that in a themed space," said Manka, who stayed overnight in the Airbnb with a couple of friends. "I went to the open house (in October).
