Vincent Gabrielle used to be paid to hike into abandoned farmsteads to inspect distribution lines in the mountains of California. He graduated with a Masters in Immunology and Microbial Disease from Albany Medical College where he researched STING (not the musician, the immunoreceptor). By chance, he became a social media organizer for The March for Science San Francisco. He has a Masters in Science Journalism from Boston University. As a freelance journalist he covered health, environmental and unusual stories. He did the same for the Knoxville News Sentinel during the COVID-19 pandemic covering health, health policy and pandemic issues where his coverage won local press awards.
As the pandemic attenuated he switched back into his old mode joining fish-watching snorkelers in Appalachian mountain streams, diving into Manhattan Project environmental contamination issues and investigating shadowy cryptocurrency mining companies in the hills of East Tennessee.
