What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was the beginning of a journey that taught me the fundamentals of reporting, news gathering, and storytelling. It gave me the opportunity to understand the importance of accuracy, deadlines, and connecting with audiences through meaningful stories. Those early experiences built the foundation for my career and continue to influence the way I approach journalism today.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, but only briefly many years ago. My journalism career has been shaped by digital tools and modern newsrooms, but I appreciate the role typewriters played in the history of journalism.
How is social media changing news?
Social media has transformed the way news is discovered, shared, and consumed. It has made information faster and more accessible while giving journalists new ways to engage with audiences and identify emerging stories. At the same time, it has increased the responsibility of journalists to verify information, counter misinformation, and maintain accuracy in a fast-moving digital environment. The role of journalism remains the same, providing credible information and meaningful context, but the way stories reach people has evolved significantly.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
My favorite fictional journalist is Clark Kent/Superman. Beyond his superhero identity, I admire his commitment to truth, investigative spirit, and dedication to bringing important stories to the public.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist means to be a bridge between information and people. It is about seeking the truth, asking the right questions, verifying facts, and presenting stories with accuracy, fairness, and context. A journalist's responsibility goes beyond reporting events, it is about helping society understand the issues that shape their lives and holding power accountable through credible storytelling.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
One of the funniest news-related hashtags I've seen is #AajKiBreakingNews.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to receive story pitches that are relevant, well-researched, and aligned with my areas of coverage. I appreciate pitches that include clear news value, verified information, expert sources, and timely insights. A concise summary of the story angle, key details, and why it matters to the audience helps me evaluate opportunities quickly.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use a combination of digital tools and platforms to research, verify, report, and publish stories. These include newsroom content management systems, web analytics tools, social media platforms, search tools, fact-checking resources, and communication platforms for sourcing and collaboration. I also use data and monitoring tools to track trends, follow developments, and understand audience interests.
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social network is X because it provides real-time updates, diverse perspectives, and a platform for tracking breaking news and public conversations. It is especially useful for journalists to follow developments, discover story ideas, engage with sources, and understand how important issues are being discussed.
Who do you wish followed you?
I would like to be followed by people who value credible journalism, including readers, fellow journalists, researchers, policymakers, and professionals who are interested in understanding national and international affairs. I appreciate an audience that values informed discussions, diverse perspectives, and fact-based reporting.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I believe in the power of information to create awareness, encourage conversations, and help people understand the world around them. The opportunity to ask questions, uncover facts, and tell meaningful stories that impact society has always inspired me. Journalism gives me the chance to keep learning every day while connecting people with the information that matters.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I am most proud of the stories that combine timely reporting with meaningful public impact. Covering major national and international developments, breaking news events, and stories that help audiences understand complex issues has been especially rewarding. I value journalism that goes beyond headlines by providing context, verified information, and a clearer picture of the events shaping people's lives.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
My advice to aspiring journalists is to stay curious, develop strong research skills, and never compromise on accuracy and credibility. Journalism is not just about reporting what happens; it is about understanding the context, asking the right questions, and telling stories that matter to people. Be open to learning, adapt to new technologies, and remember that trust is the most valuable asset a journalist can build.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitches I have received were the ones that clearly understood the audience, provided a strong news angle, and offered meaningful insights rather than just promotional information. A great pitch saves time by presenting verified facts, relevant sources, and a clear explanation of why the story matters at that moment. The most valuable pitches are those that help uncover a fresh perspective or add depth to an important conversation.
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite drink is tea. It has always been a great companion during long hours of reading, researching, and working on stories. A good cup of tea helps me pause, think, and stay focused.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
When I am away from my computer, I am most likely to be reading, following developments around the world, spending time with family, or exploring ideas beyond the newsroom. Staying curious and connected helps me bring a wider perspective to my work as a journalist.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Aside from my own publication, I enjoy reading a mix of national and international publications that provide strong reporting, diverse perspectives, and in-depth analysis. I value publications that focus on accuracy, investigative journalism, and meaningful coverage of important issues shaping the world.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
A common misconception about my beat is that news reporting is only about covering events after they happen. In reality, good journalism involves continuous research, understanding the larger context, verifying information, tracking developments, and identifying the real impact of a story on people. Whether it is politics, elections, crime, or international affairs, the challenge is not just reporting what happened, but explaining why it matters.
