A 90-year-old white woman with a medical history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and hypertension presented to her local eye doctor for a routine eye exam. The patient also had a history of hyperlipidemia and multiple cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma lesions (status post Mohs excision). Her chief concern was new drooping of her right upper eyelid. She said the drooping had been happening for about 6 months, with intermittent headaches and increased tearing from her right eye.

A 63-year-old Vietnamese-speaking man with a history of scleritis in the left eye, epiretinal membrane, dry eye syndrome and age-related cataracts presented to the retina clinic for a follow-up on a chronic blind, painful left eye. The patient had a long-standing blind, painful left eye since 2020, but the cause was unknown. His medical history included tuberculosis (status post treatment), gout, anxiety, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. He had no significant family history.
