A coalition of history groups around the county is working to save the history collection housed on the PCC Rock Creek Campus. The History Roundtable is conducting a survey to gather public input to help find a solution to the crisis. Following a series of poor decisions by the former board and a drastic loss of funding, the county museum closed in late 2024.

With the huge national controversy over aggressive tactics on the part of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) we wanted to look into how our Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is handling interactions with those Homeland Security agencies. They shared information with us at the January CPO 1 meeting (link to YouTube recording, beginning around nine minutes in), and later we spoke with Sergeant DiPietro so we could bring you the facts.

After a years-long decline in county support, Washington County’s once exemplary community involvement program (Community Participation Organizations—CPOs, and the Committee for Community Involvement—CCI) will end as neighbor-led organization if the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) proceeds as outlined in their December 2 work session.
