Ideally by email. 2-3 concise paras with facts & data. Keep the fluff away.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Microsoft Office to write, all available tools to research.
Why did you become a journalist?
I'm very curious. I'm always learning. I like to dig deep to find out what's happening.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
You are not the story. You are not the center of attention. Your opinion is only another opinion. Only the hard facts matter!
When's the best time to pitch you?
Pretty much any decent hour. Between 11 am and 1 pm is probably the best, though.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
When a PR guy called at 7:30 pm while I was in the midst of filing a story and said "Let me take you on a trip". He meant a free junket!
What's your favorite drink?
Water
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Reading a book.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
It's fodder for PR. Sorry, it isn't. It isn't free advertising, either.
