OREGON — The Rural Organizing Project (ROP), an Oregon nonprofit with affiliated groups in Hood River and Wasco counties, has filed a lawsuit alleging that Oregon State Police is violating Oregon’s sanctuary law by allowing federal immigration authorities to access sensitive personal data belonging to state residents. Oregon State Police (OSP) runs a statewide law enforcement database called the Law Enforcement Data System, or LEDS.

Gorge tribes highlight concerns over a Klickitat County energy project

Last Friday, the Yakama Nation welcomed more than 300 people, according to organizers, to Pushpum, a windswept meadow high above the John Day Dam on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. Tribal leaders say Pushpum, a sacred Indigenous site, is now threatened with irreparable harm by a proposed renewable energy facility known as the  Goldendale Energy Storage Project.
