We're halfway through the regular season entering this, the sixth week and there have been few surprises. In looking at the first five weeks the only undefeated teams at 5-0 are Benton and Minden in 1-4A, Loyola in 1-3A, Many in 3-2A,Haynesville in 1-1A and Logansport in 3-1A. A few other schools sport 4-1 records from 1-5A is Airline and Haughton, Woodlawn in 1-4A, Red River 1-2A and Ruston in 2-5A.
Defensive gems were at the top of Friday night's action as the mid-point of the regular season hit the area. Airline and Evangel led the charge with shutout wins while Benton, Haughton and Haynesville all turned in solid defensive performances. Evangel didn't give up a first down and limited University Academy to a minus 49 yards in a 72-0 win. Airline allowed just 65 yards in shutting down a Captain Shreve team that was averaging 340 yards and 35 points per game.
Another weekend of high school football is in the books and we look back at who had big games in week 4. Woodlawn's Josh Mosley fired four touchdown passes as the Knights overcame Northwood 30-27. Delmonte Hall of North DeSoto added two more touchdowns to his state leading 14 to give him 16 on the season while rushing for 157 yards in the Griffins 35-21 win at Bossier.
