What was your first job as a journalist?

How is social media changing news?
Cable News is killing Truth, as well as most social media outlets. There is no "bullshit" control on what is out there. Russian Bots.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
We write the first draft of history.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
CanvaPro, Pixlr, Spotify for Podcasters, Final Cut Pro, Google Suite, Voice to Text, Photoshop, InDesign.

Why did you become a journalist?
To understand myself, to see what I think when I read what I read, to understand the world of others, to have empathy, to connect.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Do not self censor yourself. Be true to your Voice, unless you're a racist, sexist, or a fascist. Then, seek therapy.

The New Yorker
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That fiction is easy to write.
