Abstract Lactate is a key metabolite and prognostic biomarker, reflecting oxygen delivery, cellular demand, and mitochondrial function. Current clinical lactate monitoring, however, relies on intermittent blood sampling, limiting localized interrogation, dynamic tracking and early intervention in critical care. Here, we report a bioresorbable and flexible electrochemical sensor for continuous deep-tissue lactate monitoring.

To determine the density and the nature of the defects induced by hydrogen radicals, we conducted Raman spectroscopy (Fig. 1a) and mapping (Supplementary Figure 1a) on graphene prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). The similarities between the Raman spectra for both CVD and exfoliated graphene (Supplementary Figure 2) indicate that the defects induced by the H plasma—particularly the defect density n —are respectively equivalent.
Over the past decade, the richness of electronic properties of graphene has attracted enormous interest for electrically detecting chemical and biological species using this two-dimensional material. However, the creation of practical graphene electronic sensors greatly depends on our ability to understand and maintain a low level of electronic noise, the fundamental reason limiting the sensor resolution.
