WARREN PETERSEN: Arizona Should Lead America’s Golden Age—Not Prosecute It - AZ FREE NEWS
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Earlier this spring, a federal judge in Phoenix had to step in and protect law-abiding Americans from a prosecutor who had lost all sense of limits. He struck down Kris Mayes’s case against the prediction market Kalshi and, in doing so, exposed one of the more reckless abuses of government power our state has seen in recent memory. The story should alarm every Arizonan, regardless of whether you have ever placed a trade.
WARREN PETERSEN: Arizona Deserves An Attorney General Who Will Defend Its Laws
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Over the past three years, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has been executing a political agenda. She has refused to defend state laws—while going out of her way to attack common-sense federal policies—simply on the grounds that she personally disagrees. She’s failed to uphold our values. She’s destroyed common sense.
The country can’t keep holding its breath for Arizona Original
On November 9, 2024, the Associated Press called Arizona for Donald Trump. Arizona was the last state the media called — four days after Election Day. As Arizona Senate president, I know that kind of delay can’t happen again. Voters deserve timely results, especially in a pivotal battleground state. The outcome of the presidential race became clear in the early hours of election night, November 6.
WARREN PETERSEN: Honoring Charlie Kirk
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Earlier this year, I introduced a bill in the legislature to designate one of our state’s busiest freeways, Loop 202, as the Charlie Kirk Loop 202, in honor of the life, work, and legacy of an Arizonan whose voice, energy, and commitment to civic engagement resonated across this state and throughout the nation. Charlie stood unapologetically for free speech, open debate, and civic participation.
Arizona Lawmaker Calls for Charlie Kirk Loop 202 to Honor Free Speech Advocate

Charlie stood unapologetically for free speech, open debate, and civic participation. For future generations to understand and celebrate those ideals, this bill must become law.
WARREN PETERSEN: Hobbs And Mayes Are Turning Arizona Into Minnesota
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Over the past couple of months, the nation’s eyes have (rightfully) been turned to the State of Minnesota, as concerned citizens have unearthed what appears to be significant abuses of taxpayer dollars going to seemingly fraudulent daycare and healthcare centers run by Somali immigrants. These discoveries have exposed Minnesota Democrat officials, who have (at the least) looked the other way as this fraud was ongoing and escalating.
Minnesota’s fraud scandal has an Arizona sequel Original
Over the past two months, Minnesota’s widening fraud scandals have drawn national attention. Investigators and watchdogs have uncovered what appear to be major abuses of taxpayer dollars tied to fraudulent day care and health care operations, and Democrat officials who oversaw the programs look, at minimum, asleep at the switch. Minnesota isn’t alone. Arizona’s reputation rests on independence and straight dealing.
AZ REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS: Governor Hobbs Missed A Chance To Make Arizona More Affordable
By AZ Republican Lawmakers | In the first week of the State Legislature’s session this year, Republicans delivered a major win on our longstanding promise to provide historic relief to millions of hard-working taxpayers in the form of a $1.1 billion tax cuts package. Our action follows years of escalating costs brought about by the failed policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, where Americans struggled to pay bills, put food on the table, and save for their children’s future.

WARREN PETERSEN: Fighting—And Winning—For Arizona - AZ FREE NEWS
By Sen. Warren Petersen | For years, Arizona was governed by Republican majorities in the state legislature—with Republicans also holding the Governor’s and Attorney General’s offices. During that time, we transformed Arizona into one of the most enviable and prosperous states in the nation: a booming economy, a hot jobs market, a flat income tax, strong support for law and order, and universal school choice.
Arizona Knows What Happens When Democrats Wage War On ICE
Just seven years ago, Democrats around the country embarked on a campaign to essentially abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in response to President Donald J. Trump’s lawful immigration enforcement actions during his first administration. One prominent Democrat, David Garcia, who couldn’t help but fall into this lawless rhetoric, hailed from my state of Arizona.
WARREN PETERSEN: Standing In The Gap: The Senate’s Fight To Keep Arizona Conservative
By Sen. Warren Petersen | For years, Arizona has been an emerging bastion of conservative leadership. Recently the AZ Republic called the Legislature the “most conservative” ever. Over the last decade it has passed landmark policies and defended critical laws around the country, setting an example for the rest of the nation to emulate.

WARREN PETERSEN: Thankful To Be An American
By Sen. Warren Petersen | As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, there’s a lot we have to be thankful for as Americans – family, provisions, jobs, faith, and so much more. This year, I’m thankful for the freedoms we enjoy in this country. All Americans should be the most grateful people in the world because we live in the freest nation in the history of humanity. There are so many freedoms we have as Americans.

WARREN PETERSEN: Americans Should Cherish Veterans Day
By Sen. Warren Petersen | America is a country founded on the principle that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For almost 250 years, these rights, freedoms, and values have shaped our nation into the world’s foremost superpower, a beacon of light and liberty to millions of onlookers, and extremely prosperous and generous.

WARREN PETERSEN: Democrats, Open The Government And Get Back To Work!
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Americans are fed up with the endless partisan chaos pouring out of Washington, D.C. For too long, radical extremists have hijacked our government—stalling progress, undermining confidence, and jeopardizing the American Dream for future generations.

WARREN PETERSEN: Protect Conservative Attorneys From Political Prosecutions
By Sen. Warren Petersen | Recently, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Board of Professional Responsibility recommended the most drastic punishment—disbarment—for former U.S. Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark over his private strategic counsel in the aftermath of the 2020 election. This complaint was pushed by liberal activists, showing the lengths they will go to punish individuals by going after their livelihoods despite the clear lack of criminal, unlawful, or unethical behavior.

This complaint was pushed by leftist activists to punish individuals by going after their livelihoods, despite the clear lack of criminal, unlawful, or unethical behavior.
WARREN PETERSEN: Finishing What Charlie Kirk Started
By Sen. Warren Petersen | There is a heavy sadness that has swept the nation. Society is grieving to a level not seen since the 1960s. Earlier this month, America suffered an unspeakable loss. Charlie Kirk was in the middle of doing what he loved, talking to college students about the traditional American values that have made this nation a beacon of hope for millions of people the past 250 years: God, family, and country. And then he was abruptly taken from us.
We must pick up where Charlie Kirk left off

Arizona Republicans Hold the Line Against Left-Wing Agenda
For years, Arizona was governed by Republican majorities in the state legislature, with Republicans also holding the Governor’s and Attorney General’s offices. During that time, we transformed Arizona into one of the most enviable and prosperous states in the nation: a booming economy, a hot jobs market, a flat income tax, strong support for law and order, and universal school choice.
Arizona is leading the fight against human trafficking
Out of all the evils in our world today, human trafficking stands among the vilest. As a father, I cannot fathom how degraded one’s mind must become to exploit another human being — especially a child — created in the image of God. And yet, even as we make incredible advancements in technology and innovation, we see more men, women, and children being preyed upon, exploited, and trafficked around our country and across the globe. Sen.
Why We Must Stand Against the Leftist Violence in LA
Déjà vu. That’s what Americans felt after the recent riots, violence, and left-wing antics centered in Los Angeles, California. Radicals used President Donald Trump’s deportations of illegal immigrants from communities around the nation as their pitiful excuse for the chaos.
This Fourth of July Should Be a Rededication to the Ideals That Inspired Our Founding Fathers
In the famous Broadway musical “Hamilton,” King George sings, “Oceans rise, empires fall.” Perhaps few realities are truer for world history than the fall of empires or countries across the continents. In fact, some studies show that the average age for an empire is 250 years, while a country’s is approximately 150 years. As we celebrate the 249th Anniversary of the United States of America this week, we should pause to consider the escalating crossroads our nation has faced for several decades.
We Recently Visited the Southern Border. Under President Trump's Leadership, It Is Secure
Editor's note: This piece was co-authored by Utah Attorney General Derek Brown. Over the past four years, hundreds of public officials from all around the nation have made their way to the U.S.-Mexico international border for the purposes of obtaining a first-hand, eye-witness account of the intensifying crisis at the southwestern United States.
Arizona’s governor refuses to get serious about border security
In a shameless attempt to bury her news among the joyous noise of Easter weekend, Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) vetoed the AZ ICE Act late last week. This commonsense proposal would have protected our communities from criminal illegal aliens by prohibiting state government entities from adopting or enforcing any policies that block or restrict law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities to enforce federal immigration laws.
The US has always been a nation of faith-based values
As Holy Week descended across the world, the Trump administration sent a shocking yet refreshing message to Americans, “renew[ing] its promise to defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government.” These words are a welcome sight, especially after the horrors inflicted by the Biden-Harris administration over the previous four years.
Arizona Republicans Stand with President Trump on Border Security
This past month, Camilia Williams, a 52-year-old mother and grandmother, was brutally murdered by an illegal alien who entered the United States under the Biden administration. We mourn her tragic passing and the massive hole left instantly in her family’s lives. The attack against Ms. Williams was another reminder of the carnage and lawlessness from the previous administration’s open border, which has left a trail of American bodies in its tragic wake. Thankfully, Donald J.
Higher education needed the Trump administration’s hostility
Over the past decade, everyday people have watched in horror and disgust as our once-proud public universities have descended into a liberal quagmire of epic proportions. Thankfully, President Donald Trump and his administration have quickly started to put an end to all of this nonsense and, quite frankly, illegal and un-American activities.
WARREN PETERSEN: Dem Governor Seems Hellbent On Making Arizona’s Election Counting Laughing Stock Of Nation
By Warren Petersen | Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed a commonsense bill that would have allowed our state to provide voters with same-day election results, moving us further away from the disastrous reporting system that is found when California voters go to their polls.

Federal and local law enforcement must work together on the border
After four years of utter lawlessness at the southern border, people have been granted a reprieve with the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Now, it’s time for Republicans and Democrats across the country to come together on a whole-of-government approach to secure our border for the interests of our great nation and its people, and Arizona Republicans are showing the way. The new administration assumes power not a moment too soon for our country.
Other states deliver results on Election Day, Arizona can too
On Nov. 9, the Associated Press called Arizona for President-elect Donald Trump, making it the final state to be called by the media and have its electoral votes allocated in reporting the results of the presidential election four days after Election Day. As president of the Arizona Senate, I know this delay can never happen again. We must have immediate certainty about election results, especially for one of the most critical states on the electoral map.
Op-Ed: Vote today to determine winners and losers without delay
Arizona voters deserve to know election results within hours, not weeks. There's one important step we can take to make this a reality. We're in the final stretch of the 2024 election cycle. In just a matter of days, we should know the outcome of races and issues on the ballot that are important to the lives and livelihoods of Americans and the Grand Canyon state. kAm%96 <6J H@C5 :D QD9@F=5]Q &?7@CEF?2E6=J[ 2D C646?E 9:DE@CJ 92D D9@H? Opinion: Arizona could have election results days sooner if we all did this
We’re in the final stretch of the 2024 election cycle. In just a matter of days, we should know the outcome of races and issues on the ballot that are important to the lives and livelihoods of Americans and the Grand Canyon State. The key word is “should.” Recent history has shown us that receiving results on winners and losers may not happen in a timely fashion in our all-important swing state.

OPINION: Arizona's system for retaining judges is a mess. Time to reform it
Arizona’s judicial retention process is not only complicated, but it can be weaponized in an attempt to remove good judges when their interpretations of laws don't fall in line with certain political ideologies. Arizona voters will have the chance to not only modernize and simplify this convoluted system, but most importantly, remove the politics that may prevent only the best, brightest and most qualified from serving in these critical roles.

4 ways the Arizona Legislature can help lower what you pay for housing and food
Opinion: Arizona cities will complain about lost revenue, but these unfair taxes are a burden on residents. Fellow lawmakers must help me reduce them. Warren Petersen opinion contributor As the holiday season sets into motion a barrage of spending on gifts, festivities and travel, many hardworking citizens within Arizona are finding themselves struggling to pay for basic necessities in the face of crippling inflation.
How about the truth? Education funding is at an all-time high under GOP leadership
OPINION Warren Petersen, opinion contributor Published 6:00 a.m. MT Jan. 15, 2020 Opinion: A conservative Arizona Legislature has not only reached record K-12 funding levels, but it's done it with record low government spending. Arizona is approaching historic highs in total per-pupil spending. (Photo: Getty Images) There has been a false narrative for a long time that Republicans in Arizona don’t fund education.

Con: Yank Planned Parenthood's funding
Lawmaker: Women don't need the abortion provider. It needs them to harvest baby parts. I recently read a "My Turn” column posted by one of my legislative colleagues ("To reduce abortions, fund education," by Andrew Sherwood, Aug. 26). It was riddled with inaccuracies that merit attention. First, it grossly misrepresented the attendance of the Planned Parenthood protest the previous weekend. I attended the event with 1,600 fellow pro-life advocates. The Phoenix protest was one of 342 around the nation.
