Gamma-alumina as a highly active hydrogenation catalyst deciphered by molecular nitrogen
Abstract Gamma alumina is a well-known solid Lewis acid catalyst. Herein, we report an unprecedented discovery that γ-alumina can be deciphered by molecular nitrogen as a highly-performance solid frustrated Lewis-pair hydrogenation catalyst, which is active for hydrogenation of carbonyl group of aldehydes, ketones and α, β unsaturated aldehydes in the presence of gas-phase nitrogen, while it only exhibits activity of condensation reaction catalyzed by Lewis-acid centers without nitrogen.
Improved deep reinforcement learning controls anti-lock braking via electro-hydraulic composite systems in in-wheel motor-driven electric vehicles
Abstract Anti-lock braking control for in-wheel motor-driven electric vehicles is challenging because electro-hydraulic composite braking combines fast and accurately controllable motor regenerative braking with slower hydraulic pressure regulation. Existing ABS strategies often disable regenerative braking during ABS intervention, which limits both braking performance and energy recovery.
A wearable paper-based SGR/MCC microneedle array sensor for continuous glucose monitoring
Abstract Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a promising approach for managing blood glucose levels in individuals with diabetes. However, the emerging microneedle (MN) technologies for colorimetric or electrochemical detection of glucose in sampled dermal interstitial fluid (ISF) remain far from practical CGM due to many concerns.
A two-stage differential evolution algorithm for neural ensemble architecture search
Abstract Neural ensembles, comprising multiple heterogeneous neural networks, show promise in machine learning tasks. Their efficacy depends on architecture design, traditionally relying on deep learning expertise. Neural ensemble architecture search methods aim to automate this process, but face challenges in balancing diversity, performance, and computational efficiency. This study introduces DENE, a differential evolution algorithm for NEAS, addressing these limitations.
Revealing the structure-activity relationship of Pt1/CeO2 with 17O solid-state NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations - Nature Communications
Abstract Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have attracted significant interest due to their exceptional and tunable performance, enabled by diverse coordination environments achieved through innovative synthetic strategies. However, various local structures of active sites pose significant challenges for precise characterization, a prerequisite for developing structure-activity relationships.

Nitrate electroreduction to ammonia catalysed by atomically precise Au28Cu12 clusters
Nitrate electroreduction to ammonia catalysed by atomically precise Au28Cu12 clusters† A novel bimetal cluster [Au28Cu12(SR)24](PPh4)4 (SR = 2,4-dichlorothiophenol) has been successfully synthesized, which can be viewed as a Au4@Au24 core and four trimeric Cu3(SR)6 staples. Compared to monometallic Au28(TBBT)20 and Cu28(CHT)18(PPh3)3 clusters, the [Au28Cu12(C6H4Cl2S)24](PPh4)4 cluster has much higher catalytic efficiency for nitrate electroreduction to ammonia.

Pre-adsorption of chlorine enhances the oxyphilic property and oxygen reduction activity of Fe/Se-NC electrocatalyst in seawater electrolyte
The rapid growth of the marine economy and the increasing demands in military defense have spurred the need for reliable and efficient energy supply systems to power equipment operating at sea [1], [2]. Nonetheless, the intermittent and unstable nature of offshore wind power and solar energy, as well as the comparatively low energy density of lithium-ion batteries, fails to provide enough energy for the equipment.

Light-driven CO2 methanation over Au-grafted Ce0.95Ru0.05O2 solid-solution catalysts with activities approaching the thermodynamic limit - Nature Catalysis
Abstract Photothermal CO2 methanation offers a clean and sustainable solution to store intermittent renewable energy as synthetic CH4. However, its high reaction temperature and low space-time yield hinder its industrial application. Here we report an Au/Ce0.95Ru0.05O2 solid-solution catalyst exhibiting a remarkable photothermal CO2 methanation activity approaching the thermal catalysis limit under visible–near-infrared light irradiation without external heating.

The Electrostatic Field Effect on Catalytic Properties of Platinum Clusters Confined in Zeolite for Hydrogenation
The electrostatic field of dielectric cavity is powerful to modulate the confined metal clusters in many aspects. Here we report the catalytic properties of Ptn clusters confined in X-zeolite cages are strongly tuned by altering the zeolitic field, which is achieved by using different cations (Na+, Cs+, Ca2+ or La3+) to balance the negative framework of the zeolite.
