The existing equations for determining plastic hinge (PH) length are inapplicable to precast members connected by grouted sleeves. This study aims to enhance seismic performance by elucidating the evolution of the PH zone, identifying three critical damage mechanisms, and examining the influence of sleeve height and position on PH behaviour.
