Association between headache and hearing impairment in middle-aged and older adults in China health and retirement longitudinal study
Abstract Global population aging presents remarkable socioeconomic and public health challenges worldwide. Headache rank as the second leading global cause of disability and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of hearing impairment (HI). Nevertheless, the precise relationship between these conditions remains poorly researched, particularly in aging populations. This study utilized data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) among adults aged 45 years and older.

The shadow of social desirability bias: evidence from reassessing the sources of political trust in China
1. Introduction Measuring political attitudes in authoritarian regimes, such as popular support of political figures and government policies, has long posed an acute challenge to researchers because of social desirability bias. To address these concerns, scholars have developed innovative methodological advancements aimed at reducing its influence in recent years.
Xinjianger, Muslim, and Chinese Nation: Identity Transformation of Uyghur Students in Xinjiang Class
ABSTRACT This article examines the evolving identity of Uyghur students in Xinjiang Class, a central nation-building initiative of China. Based on qualitative data, it identifies three phases of transformation: an ethno-regional identity as ‘Xinjianger’ (2000–2008); an ethno-religious identification as ‘Muslim’ after the 2009 riots; and, after 2017, a political identification with the ‘Chinese nation’.

Pharmacology Research & Perspectives
1 Introduction Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic nonspecific intestinal inflammatory disease characterized by inflammatory changes in the colon mucosa. The most common symptoms include diarrhea, hematochezia, and stomach pain. Individuals with UC experience a diminished health-related quality of life [1] and significant direct and indirect economic burdens [2]. Therefore, it is of great importance to choose an appropriate treatment strategy, especially for patients with moderate-to-severe UC.

Proton Coordination Chemistry in Pyrene-based Anode for Ultralong-life Aqueous Proton Batteries
Proton Coordination Chemistry in Pyrene-based Anode for Ultralong-life Aqueous Proton Batteries Sustainable and safe aqueous proton batteries (APBs) have attracted significant attention owing to the unique “Grotthuss mechanism”. Although organic small molecules with stable and adjustable framework are promising electrode materials, their easy-dissolution in electrolyte and unsatisfactory intrinsic conductivity cripple the broader application in APB devices.

Amorphous Fe-O-P electro(pre)catalysts for energy-efficient H2 production coupled with ethylene glycol oxidation
Amorphous Fe-O-P electro(pre)catalysts for energy-efficient H2 production coupled with ethylene glycol oxidation This study presents the synthesis and electrocatalytic performance of amorphous Fe-O-P nanocages derived from Fe-MOFs for water and ethylene glycol (EG) oxidation. Despite structural and compositional changes, the electrocatalyst in an electrolytic cell with Pt/C shows high activity and reduced cell voltage, efficiently generating H2 and formic acid in a KOH-EG mixed electrolyte.

An Aqueous Rechargeable Copper Ammonium Hybrid Battery with Good Cycling Performance Hybrid aqueous rechargeable batteries have attracted broad attention due to their cost, safety, and environmental advantages. Nevertheless, a large proportion of the reported long-life and high-power performances are accomplished with a low mass-loading in cathode (2 mg cm-2).
Metal-Organic Framework for the Immobilization of Oxidoreductase Enzymes: Scopes and Perspectives
1. Introduction Oxidoreductases, as a wide class of enzymes, play an important role in regulating redox reactions by catalyzing the transfer of electrons from one molecule to another. Recently, many primary oxidoreductases, such as glucose oxidase (GOx), laccase(Lac), peroxidase (POx), and catalase (CAT), are now being widely employed industrially in a variety of biotechnological processes.

A frameshift in Yersinia pestis rcsD alters canonical Rcs signalling to preserve flea-mammal plague transmission cycles
Multiple genetic changes in the enteric pathogen Yersinia pseudotuberculosis have driven the emergence of Yesinia pestis, the arthropod-borne, etiological agent of plague. These include developing the capacity for biofilm-dependent blockage of the flea foregut to enable transmission by flea bite. Previously, we showed that pseudogenisation of rcsA, encoding a component of the Rcs signalling pathway, is an important evolutionary step facilitating Y. pestis flea-borne transmission.
