A new statistical approach for China road freight transport at a subnational level
1 Introduction Transportation is usually referred to as the lifeblood of economic development. In particular, efficient freight transport activity is a strong driving force for economic growth [1]. The growth of economy is usually accompanied by an increase in terms of freight tonnage and ton-kilometers. As the largest developing country in the world, the China freight transportation system moved more than 52.98 billion tons of goods in 2021 [2].
