Every con needs a mark who thinks they are being rescued instead of fleeced. Carnival grifters used to pick the gullible one out of the crowd, run the game and then chalk them on the back afterwards - a literal mark. Every other operator knew that one had already been worked and to leave them alone. Young Australians, planning for their futures, have effectively been chalked. Labor picked them out of the crowd 10 months ago, ran the housing game and is now standing over the wreckage.

GetUp!'s founding pitch is that ordinary Australians deserve a voice and their brand of grassroots activism advocates for those people. The issue is that the very people bereft of power in this country were the ones One Nation leader Pauline Hanson was speaking for when GetUp! chose to unfurl its silly little banner at the National Press Club. The ones eating from garbage bins, going to bed cold and sending their children to school hungry.
