A new absence policy has been approved at a Suffolk council in a battle against an "unacceptable culture" which has seen the resignation of another councillor. Hadleigh Town Council approved a review of its absence policy during a meeting on February 19, after a spate of long-term absences, with four councillors missing more than six consecutive months last year During this time, this paper revealed that Cllr Anthony Miller was in Thailand while missing meetings from June to September.

Parents say SEND system could 'collapse' with proposed changes

Parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) say Suffolk's system could collapse if leaked Government changes to how their care is reviewed are carried out. All children with SEND could see their plans for support reviewed at the end of primary school from 2029, according to white papers leaked to the BBC.

Teen 'delighted' as film chosen for prestigious London awards

A Suffolk teen is delighted to have been nominated for a prestigious award after her animated film gained national attention. Katie Bennett, 18, from Great Glemham, near Saxmundham, has been nominated for the EDUQAS in the animation category. Her film, Paperweight, will be shown on the big screen at The British Film Institute (BFI) in London on Friday.
