This is my second stint at the Columbia Daily Tribune.

I first came to the paper in 2001, the day after I graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I covered the city government beat through the fall of 2002, when I took over the crime and courts beat.

I left the Tribune in May 2003 and wound up in Fayetteville, N.C., where I worked for The Fayetteville Observer as a military reporter and later as an assignment editor. My stint as a reporter included a trip to Iraq in 20…

What was your first job as a journalist?

City reporter for my current employer. I started the day after I graduated from journalism school.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, but not for producing journalism. I used one in school.

How is social media changing news?

News no longer is a one-way proposition. Anyone can use social media tools to report news or to talk to reporters.
