As protests– both peaceful and violent– ripple across the United States in the wake of the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, most Americans seem to once again be missing the actual problem. Many are protesting the systemic racism they perceive to be inherent in American society, and ignoring the actual issues that need to be fixed in our society. George Floyd, unfortunately, isn’t a lone victim of isolated circumstances.

As we enter the height of the summer season, with still no Major League Baseball in sight — and no solid plans to bring baseball to fans in 2020 — it may be time to come to terms with the fact that there is a very good chance that there just won’t be any baseball this year. The 2020 Major League Baseball season was postponed during Spring Training, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting stay at home orders across the nation.

I am currently sitting in Facebook jail. This isn’t my first bid, not by a long shot. As more and more people become politically active on social media, which more and more seems to be just about everyone these days, more and more people are finding themselves in the Facebook gulag for violating the social media megasite’s community standards. As a private company that operates on a for profit basis, Facebook is in a unique position.
