The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has released the list of applicants who successfully passed the online application stage of the 2026 nationwide recruitment exercise. The shortlisted candidates come from districts across the country and include applicants for both the regular forces and specialised professional positions.

FIFA has confirmed new rules for the 2026 World Cup and the idea is simple: cut time-wasting, keep the game moving, and make decisions clearer. First, throw-ins and goal kicks now have a five-second countdown. If a player deliberately holds the ball or walks slowly to delay the restart, the referee can take the throw or goal kick away and give it to the other team. For goal kicks, if the team wastes time, the punishment is even sharper – the other side gets a corner. Substitutions also get stricter.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is about to get bigger than ever. For the first time, 48 nations will play, with games spread across Canada, Mexico, and the United States starting 11 June 2026. FIFA confirmed 1,248 players made the final squads. 891 will be World Cup debutants, 357 are coming back for another shot. Africa has 10 teams this time – the continent’s biggest representation yet. The teams: Algeria, Cabo Verde, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia.
