Oklahoma has a real opportunity in front of it. Artificial intelligence and cloud computing are driving a new wave of data center construction, and Oklahoma is already part of that story. Google has major existing and planned operations in the state, including its longtime Mayes County campus and newer projects tied to Stillwater, Muskogee and Sand Springs. In Sand Springs alone, the proposed Google project covers about 827 acres.

INTRODUCTION The quality of habitat for insects is primarily dictated by the availability of sites in which the least mobile and most specialised early stages can survive (Bourn & Thomas, 2002; Thomas et al., 2011). For many herbivorous insects of open habitats, a key factor is the availability of suitably warm microhabitats around host plants, particularly for species close to their cool range margins (Oliver et al., 2009; Thomas et al., 1999).

For generations, Oklahoma’s economy ran on cheap energy. It kept farms operating, factories competitive and small towns alive. But today, electricity prices are rising faster here than in several neighboring states — and much faster than in the countries we compete with globally. In an economy powered by data centers, robotics and advanced manufacturing, cheap electricity isn’t a luxury. It’s the whole ballgame.
