Abstract Background Evidence regarding high-dose inhaled corticosteroids (HDICS) in asthma exacerbations in adults is insufficient. This study compares the treatment outcomes of HDICS as add-on therapy to the outcomes of standard treatment in adult patients with acute asthma exacerbation in the ED. Methods This was a single-centre, triple-blind, randomised controlled trial conducted in the ED in Thailand between March 2022 and April 2023.

Introduction Stroke is the second leading cause of disability and death globally. A 2019 review reports about 12 million new stroke cases annually, with ischemic strokes causing 3.3 million deaths.1 Acute ischemic stroke care has focused on strategies to preserve brain tissue, with intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy proving effective.2,3 However, their success depends on timely administration.
