Madison Square Garden, N.Y. – A battle between the struggling New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury went down to the wire Tuesday afternoon, with Phoenix edging out New York, 80-74. The showcase fight was in the post, as Mercury center Brittney Griner had 26 points and Liberty center Tina Charles scored 25.

Westchester, N.Y. – The Las Vegas Aces ran away from the New York Liberty Wednesday, 78-63, to win their third game of the season and second in a row. It was the worst loss of the year so far for New York. In a match up that saw the Aces lead by as much as 26 points, forward Dearica Hamby lead the way with 17 points, shooting 7 of 11 from the field.
