Abstract Magnon polarons, hybrid quasiparticles embodying the intrinsic coupling between spin and lattice dynamics, bridge magnetism and phononics in quantum materials. Despite extensive studies in magnetic insulators, spectroscopic evidence for magnon polarons has been scarcely reported in metallic ferromagnets. Here, we reveal magnon polarons at the nanoscale in single crystals of Fe3GeTe2 using inelastic scanning tunneling spectroscopy (ISTS) with a milli-Kelvin scanning tunneling microscope.

Abstract Control over the electrical contact to an individual molecule is one of the biggest challenges in molecular optoelectronics. The mounting of individual chromophores on extended tripodal scaffolds enables both efficient electrical and mechanical decoupling of individual chromophores from metallic leads.

Abstract Comprehension of electrical and mechanical properties of atomic-sized metal contacts are of central importance for a number of different fields, e.g., the development of interconnects in nanoelectronics, the description of friction on the nanoscale, and break-junction experiments. Au-Au nanocontacts are experimentally particularly suited because of the chemical inertness and serve as a valuable testbed for charge transport in the quantum regime.
