Disorder-induced magnetoelastic behavior of MnTe x Sb y Bi 1- x - y alloys
Abstract Compositional tuning between materials with contrasting magnetic and electronic properties can induce behaviors absent in their end members. In this paper, we demonstrate that in mixed MnTe-MnSb-MnBi alloy systems, the competition between MnTe, an antiferromagnetic (AFM) semiconductor with altermagnetic band symmetry, and the ferromagnetic (FM) metals MnSb and MnBi drives several composition-dependent transitions.
Peat accumulation and soil mechanical support for plant proliferation
Abstract Through an analysis of soil structure and soil mechanics characteristics, combined with the principle of the past informed by modern analogues, the properties of peat and soil are examined. The structure and physical conditions of soil can provide strong mechanical support for plant growth, whereas the loose accumulation layer of peat lacks the soil properties necessary to sustain the long-term prosperity of large plants.
A Systematic Review and Expert Evaluation of Perioperative SGLT2 Inhibitor-Associated Ketoacidosis Case Reports
1 Introduction The use of sodium–glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) has increased in recent years, both as glucose-lowering agents and for the treatment of heart failure and chronic kidney disease [1-3]. SGLT2i increase ketogenesis. This results from SGLT2i-induced glucosuria, which lowers blood glucose, reduces endogenous insulin secretion and increases glucagon, thereby promoting lipolysis and hepatic ketogenesis.

Spatial correlation at the boson peak frequency in amorphous materials - Nature Communications
Abstract The Boson peak (BP), an excess of vibrational density of states, is ubiquitous for amorphous materials and is believed to hold the key to understanding the dynamics of glass and glass transition. Previous studies have established an energy scale for the BP, which is ~ 1-10 meV or ~ THz in frequency. However, so far, little is known about the momentum dependence or spatial correlation of the BP.
Artificial rainfall patterns alter non‐structural carbohydrate allocation to modulate growth and eco‐stoichiometry in Cyphomandra betacea seedlings
INTRODUCTION Global climate warming is significantly altering the spatiotemporal distribution and intensity of rainfall, affecting regional rainfall patterns (both precipitation amount and interval) (Maurer et al. 2020; Smith et al. 2023). Changes to precipitation regimes alter rainfall frequency, seasonal distribution, and the incidence of extreme precipitation events, directly impacting plant growth and plant adaptive mechanisms to changing rainfall conditions (Deng et al. 2021).

Abstract The dynamics of carbon allocation in trees affect carbon storage of forest ecosystems and atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations on Earth. Here, using carbon fluxes and xylem phenology from 84 conifer forests across the Northern Hemisphere, we quantify the phenology of carbon sources (photosynthesis) and sinks (stem growth) along a thermal gradient from −4.4 to 18.2 °C in mean annual temperature.

Caitlyn Min-ji Au's "Panda" at Shanghai Seminary
“Artificial stupidity,” Hito Steyerl’s term for the countless failures of advanced technologies when confronted with human reality, stems from the impossibility of fully modeling desire, expectation and outcome in the machine-like language of numbers and logic. In “Strawberry,” the single-room-sized sculpture that makes up Caitlyn Min-ji Au’s solo show “Panda,” the artificial idiot is a Roborock Q7 Max robot vacuum trying to traverse the known world and return home.
Indo-Gem: An Activatable Theranostic Prodrug, a “Turn-On” Fluorescent Probe, and a Targetable Imaging Agent in the Zebrafish Gallbladder System
Due to the high cost, long research schedules, and low success rates associated with generating new cancer therapies, alternative tactics that focus on altering anticancer medications already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) present an appealing option.1 Treatment options such as surgical resection, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy are effective cancer treatments, but their toxicity and lack of selectivity can cause acute adverse effects on healthy cells and organs.

Frustrated spin-1/2 chains in a correlated metal - Nature Materials
Abstract Electronic correlations lead to heavy quasiparticles in three-dimensional (3D) metals, and their collapse can destabilize magnetic moments. It is an open question whether there is an analogous instability in one-dimensional (1D) systems, unanswered due to the lack of metallic spin chain materials. We report neutron scattering measurements and density matrix renormalization group calculations establishing spinons in the correlated metal Ti4MnBi2, confirming that its magnetism is 1D.

Realistic Facial Age Transformation with 3D Uplifting
1. Introduction Facial age editing has a long history in computer graphics and vision due to its various applications. Recent films, such as Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), apply digital age transformation to the actors to represent the past, present, and future; for example, they de-aged the actor Harrison Ford from 80 to 40 years old. This has stimulated facial age transformation to become a popular and significant research direction. Several challenges exist in this field.
An energy-efficient cyclic amine system developed for carbon capture from both flue gas and air
Developing a sustainable society demands a concerted effort to combat rising atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, a critical driver of global warming and climate change [1]. Reducing CO2 levels requires a combined effort to limit future emissions and develop strategies for decreasing existing concentrations. Anthropogenic CO2 emissions have been identified as a primary cause of the increase in average global temperature due to greenhouse effects.
