Differences in the carcinogenic evaluation of glyphosate between the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Monographs Programme identifies chemicals, drugs, mixtures, occupational exposures, lifestyles and personal habits, and physical and biological agents that cause cancer in humans and has evaluated about 1000 agents since 1971. Monographs are written by ad hoc Working Groups (WGs) of international scientific experts over a period of about 12 months ending in an eight-day meeting.
Multi-ethnic reference values for spirometry for the 3-95-yr age range: the global lung function 2012 equations
INTRODUCTION Pulmonary function tests fulfil a pivotal role in respiratory medicine. They are used to diagnose airways obstruction, assess its severity and prognosis, delineate risk factors (e.g. pre-operative assessment), detect early lung disease, and monitor for normal lung growth and lung function decline. Unlike the majority of biological indices in medicine, such as plasma concentrations of chemical analytes or hormones, pulmonary function varies with age, standing height, sex and ethnicity.

Interpretation of spirometric data of 799 pulmonary male patients by ECCS/ERS and GLI-2012 reference values
AbstractBackground: So far, there is limited experience in comparing the recently published GLI-2012 reference values (Eur Respir J, 2012. 40(6): p. 1324-43) with the ECCS/ERS 1993 recommendations still mostly used all over Europe. Methods: We used the equations of both of these publications for calculation of predicted values of 799 male patients (mean age 67 yrs, range 26-91 yrs). Spirometry was performed in all of these subjects with a pneumotach (MasterScreen; CareFusion, Hoechberg, Germany).
