There are few Jamaican brands that evoke the kind of emotion, nostalgia and national pride that Air Jamaica still does decades after its closure. Mention the airline anywhere Jamaicans gather — Kingston, Toronto, London, New York, Fort Lauderdale — and the stories immediately begin to flow.

Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist Busy Signal has received the Key to the City of Tamarac, Florida. The honor was presented during the first Tamarac Food and Wine Festival held at the Tamarac Village Amphitheater in Broward County. Busy Signal, whose real name is Reanno Devon Gordon, was recognized for his contribution to music and Caribbean culture. City officials noted that he is only the fifth person to receive the honor from the City of Tamarac. Vice Mayor Marlon D.

A Jamaican American student has made history at Carnegie Mellon University after becoming the first person to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in robotics from the university. Beverly “Bev” Da Costa achieved the milestone during the university’s commencement ceremony after completing the school’s undergraduate robotics program, which officially launched three years ago. Da Costa’s accomplishment is also a proud moment for her Jamaican family roots.
