Semiconducting and magnetic lanthanide MXenes from intercalated halides
Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) magnetic semiconductors are crucial for next-generation information storage and spintronic technologies1,2. MXenes, owing to compositional diversity and tunable properties, provide a platform for designing functional materials3,4,5. Incorporating lanthanides (Ln) introduces localized 4f electrons with strong spin polarization, while potentially enabling semiconducting behaviour, offering a viable route to magnetic semiconductors6,7.
Scalable synthesis of graphitic aggregates for high-rate battery anode
Abstract Graphite anodes remain the backbone of lithium-ion batteries, yet their utility is limited by sluggish lithium-ion transport kinetics under extreme conditions. Here we present a scalable method to synthesize graphitic aggregates using liquid-processable, polyacrylonitrile-based precursors, achieving a conformal graphite coating fully compatible with existing industrial workflows.
Delocalized electrolyte design enables 600 Wh kg−1 lithium metal pouch cells - Nature
Abstract The development of high-energy lithium metal batteries (LMBs) is essential for advances in next-generation energy storage and electric vehicle technologies1,2,3. Nevertheless, the practical applications of LMBs are constrained by current electrolyte designs that inherently rely on dominant solvation structures, preventing transformative progress in performance optimization4,5.
Unconventional bulk-Fermi-arc links paired third-order exceptional points splitting from a defective triple point - Communications Physics
Abstract Exceptional degeneracies, unique to open systems, are important in non-Hermitian topology. While bulk-Fermi-arcs connecting second-order exceptional points (EP2s) have been observed, the existence of bulk-Fermi-arcs linking higher-order exceptional points remains unexplored.

Unveiling the autocatalytic growth of Li2S crystals at the solid-liquid interface in lithium-sulfur batteries - Nature Communications
Abstract Electrocatalysts are extensively employed to suppress the shuttling effect in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. However, it remains challenging to probe the sulfur redox reactions and mechanism at the electrocatalyst/LiPS interface after the active sites are covered by the solid discharge products Li2S/Li2S2. Here, we demonstrate the intrinsic autocatalytic activity of the Li2S (100) plane towards lithium polysulfides on single-atom nickel (SANi) electrocatalysts.
Micronuclear battery based on a coalescent energy transducer - Nature
Abstract Micronuclear batteries harness energy from the radioactive decay of radioisotopes to generate electricity on a small scale, typically in the nanowatt or microwatt range1,2. Contrary to chemical batteries, the longevity of a micronuclear battery is tied to the half-life of the used radioisotope, enabling operational lifetimes that can span several decades3.
Self-Healing fluorinated polymer deep eutectic electrolytes for stable lithium metal batteries
Lithium metal batteries (LMB) have attracted much attention due to their ultra-high energy density [1], [2]. However, lithium is a reactive metal with high reactivity and consumes electrolytes [3], [4]. At the same time, uneven deposition on the anode surface produces “dead Li” and lithium dendrites, which may puncture the separator and lead to battery short circuits and even thermal runaway, thereby posing serious safety hazards to LMB [5], [6].

Molecular Dynamics Study on the Mechanism of Gallium Nitride Radiation Damage by Alpha Particles
3.2. Radiation Damage Simulation of Multiple α-Particle Cumulative Irradiation on GaN After simulating the single α-particle irradiation of the GaN matrix, we also studied the cumulative damage effects caused by multiple α-particle irradiations on GaN. In this case, the energy of the incident α-particles was set to 0.1 MeV, and the injection doses were 2 × 1012 and 4 × 1012 ions/cm2, corresponding to five and ten incident α-particles, respectively.

The Optimization of the Fillet Size of Autoclave Tooth Based on the Experiment and Numerical Simulation
Focusing on the phenomenon of the crack on the autoclave flange, a three-dimensional model of the autoclave was established based on the Ansys Workbench platform. A new finite element analysis flow for optimizing the design of autoclave teeth was established using the Fluent, Static Structure, and Direct Optimization modules. The paper analyzed and discussed the maximum stress and minimum fatigue life at the corresponding position.

A feasibility study on the application of separable coded masks to X-ray fluorescence imaging
A feasibility study on the application of separable coded masks to X-ray fluorescence imaging For every imaging method, optics plays a vital role. Compared to polycapillary optics or a pinhole-collimator, the use of coded apertures as X-ray optics has the advantages of simple fabrication, high sensitivity, and scalability. Therefore, this work explores the feasibility of applying the coded aperture method to X-ray fluorescence imaging.
