1 Introduction Penicillin allergy is one of the most frequently reported drug allergies. The prevalence of penicillin allergy labels varies by region, with approximately 10% of individuals in the general population and 13%–25% of hospitalised patients in the United States carrying such labels [1-4]. In contrast, reported rates in Asia are lower: 4%–5% of hospitalised patients in China and Hong Kong [5, 6], and 1%–4% in secondary care settings in India and Sri Lanka [7].
