Introduction There is a growing trend in developing drugs for vaginal and intrauterine administration that prevent pregnancy and treat infertility, sexually transmitted diseases, and gynecologic cancer. Drug delivery via the female reproductive tract (FRT) avoids the harsh gastrointestinal environment and bypasses the gastrointestinal and hepatic first-pass effects. Certain dosage forms are designed for local vaginal delivery and thereby enable prolonged drug delivery and continuous drug release.

1 INTRODUCTION Myocardial fibrosis (MF) is closely related to a variety of cardiovascular diseases and is caused by various cardiac injuries, such as myocardial infarction and hypertension (Zhang et al., 2021; Zhou et al., 2016). Fibrosis is not a disease, but the result of a tissue repair response. The degree of MF is generally considered to predict adverse outcomes.
