Abstract Suicidal ideation (SI) is a critical challenge in major depressive disorder (MDD), yet its precise neural circuitry remains elusive. Although anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is implicated, its subregional roles remain poorly understood. This study aimed to delineate SI-specific neural circuitry by examining whole-brain functional connectivity (FC) of ACC subregions: subgenual ACC (sgACC), pregenual ACC (pgACC), and dorsal ACC (dACC).

Abstract Current antidepressant therapies predominately target symptom remission in major depressive disorder (MDD) but often overlook social dysfunction, which is a critical determinant of functional recovery. Individualized, accelerated continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS) targeting the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (R.DLPFC) may offer a potential therapeutic approach for concurrently improving clinical and psychosocial outcomes in MDD.
