Why it matters: Peak holiday congestion could add serious time to your trip. Driving the news: It'll take you nearly three hours to drive Orlando if you leave Friday at 3:45pm, according to INRIX, a transportation data firm that works with AAA to calculate travel times. If you must leave Friday, go before noon if possible. Traffic on Monday will be the worst between 2-5pm.

Members of the Rays' new ownership group and businesses associated with them have donated at least $411,000 to Bob Buckhorn's political committee, campaign finance and corporate records show. Why it matters: In a crowded race for Tampa mayor, Buckhorn is drawing major financial support from the team's ownership, whose ballpark plans will depend, in part, on the city's next administration. By the numbers: Most of the $411,000 came from businesses owned by Rays investors, which gave $345,000 in all.

Pinellas ups mosquito control as dengue cases rise

Pinellas County is advising residents to take precautions as dengue cases rise in the Tampa Bay area. Why it matters: Dozens of cases of the mosquito-borne illness have been reported across the region — and as Alissa Berro, director of Pinellas County Mosquito Control, put it, "dengue doesn't stop at county lines."
