Depression is associated with heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Introduction Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has become an emerging epidemic and a major clinical and public health concern (1). Poor mental health is an additional concern in patients with T2DM. Approximately one in every four patients with T2DM suffers from clinically significant depression (2). T2DM increases the risk of depression, and depression increases the risk of hyperglycemia and insulin resistance, which in turn worsen T2DM.
