Comparison of remimazolam-flumazenil versus propofol on delayed emergence from anaesthesia in major spine surgery: protocol for a multicentre, single-blinded, randomised controlled trial | BMJ Open
Introduction Emergence from anaesthesia is the stage of general anaesthesia characterised by the progression from unconsciousness to wakefulness.1 This process involves distinct neurobiological mechanisms and is not simply the reverse process of induction. Although patients can recover quickly from commonly used anaesthetic agents, the phenomenon of delayed emergence (DE) from anaesthesia is still common in clinical practice, particularly after prolonged general anaesthesia.
