Manganese(II) Oxidation and Mineralization by the Deep-Sea Bacterium Shewanella piezotolerans WP3
1 Introduction Manganese (Mn), the fifth most abundant metal in Earth's crust, plays a critical role in (bio-)geochemical systems, serving both as an essential micronutrient for many organisms and as a redox-active mediator in environmental energy fluxes (Canfield et al. 2005; Tebo et al. 2005; Oldham, Jones, et al. 2017; Wan et al. 2019; Liu et al. 2025). In natural settings, Mn primarily exists in three oxidation states: Mn(II), Mn(III), and Mn(IV).
A novel green biorefinery strategy for corn stover by pretreatment with weak alkaline-assisted deep eutectic solvents
A novel green biorefinery strategy for corn stover by pretreatment with weak alkaline-assisted deep eutectic solvents The utilization of lignocellulosic biomass wastes for producing high value-added products is one reliable way to address energy and environment issue. To achieve maximum and renewable utilization of biomass resources, the focus of current biorefineries have shifted from single component utilization to full-component utilization.
