Evaluating the Efficacy of Soothing Agents in Mitigating 0.1% Retinol‐Induced Skin Irritation: A Patch Test
Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is a cornerstone in dermatology, widely used for its proven efficacy in promoting collagen synthesis, improving skin texture, and reducing fine lines, acne, and pigmentation. These benefits stem from retinol's ability to stimulate fibroblasts and reduce collagen-degrading enzymes.
Mitigation of retinol‐induced skin irritation by physiologic lipids: Evidence from patch testing
1 INTRODUCTION Topical retinol has garnered recognition for its efficacy in ameliorating skin photodamage indicators, including fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation.1 A pivotal research trajectory is deciphering the interplay between retinol's effectiveness and the irritation it elicits. The goal is to devise a formulation that distinctly separates these two effects. Often, retinol induces pronounced localized irritation, presenting as subtle erythema and stratum corneum skin shedding.
