Editor’s summary Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are disorders that result in progressive and irreversible damage to the lungs. Current therapies are not curative and not tissue targeted. Nangle et al. used a tissue-specific variant of human histidyl-tRNA synthase (HARS) that contains a WHEP protein domain (HARSWHEP) to specifically bind neuropilin-2 (NRP2) receptors on myeloid cells during active inflammation.
