The tea geometrid, Ectropis grisescens Warren (Lepidoptera: Geometridae), is a severe chewing caterpillar pest of tea bushes in the lower Yangtze River of China (Warren 1894). It feeds on tea leaves and tender buds and produces 6–7 generations per year. Outbreaks of this pest may cause thousands of hectares of damage and severely reduce tea production (Ge et al. 2016). Chemical pesticides have been the most effective method to control this pest for a long time.
