Abstract Background: Poor medication adherence is a major challenge in healthcare for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), particularly those with long disease duration, multiple comorbidities, and complex therapeutic regimens. This case report describes the application of pharmacist-led MTM (medication therapy management) in a patient with T2DM presenting complex therapeutic regimens and poor adherence.

1 Introduction Etomidate is a sedative-hypnotic carboxylate ester containing an imidazole ring (Figure 1) (Jiang et al. 2021). It is metabolized primarily in the liver and acts by activating gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission, and thereby inducing central nervous system depression (Gao et al. 2023).
