Atomically precise graphene etch stops for three dimensional integrated systems from two dimensional material heterostructures
Figure 1a illustrates the use of GES to pattern a heterostructure of 2D materials, and Fig. 1b, c are optical images of the same heterostructure before and after exposure to XeF . The heterostructure is fabricated by stacking individual materials using established polymer-free, aligned transfer techniques11,29. Specifically, the heterostructure is composed of two monolayer graphene flakes, set in a cross-alignment and embedded between hBN layers, then placed on top of a Si/SiO (285 nm) substrate.
High thermal conductivity in cubic boron arsenide crystals
Thermal management becomes increasingly important as we decrease device size and increase computing power. Engineering materials with high thermal conductivity, such as boron arsenide (BAs), is hard because it is essential to avoid defects and impurities during synthesis, which would stop heat flow. Three different research groups have synthesized BAs with a thermal conductivity around 1000 watts per meter-kelvin: Kang et al., Li et al., and Tian et al.
