The Strategic Implications of China’s Military Facility in Laos
China inaugurated an air force support and training center in Laos on September 29, marking China’s third overseas military facility. Analysts have noted that the arrangement could expand the People’s Liberation Army’s military presence in Southeast Asia and strengthen China’s regional interests, although there is currently no evidence that Beijing has deployed large-scale forces at the site.

The Battle for Taiwan’s East: Taipei’s Western Pacific Strategy
Since July, China has begun conducting more regularized coast guard patrols in waters east of Taiwan. These operations are, of course, partly connected to recent maritime developments involving Japan and the Philippines. Yet a broader trend is also becoming increasingly visible: the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has stepped up both the scale and intensity of its activities in the airspace and waters east of Taiwan.
