Highlights • Compared to healthy controls, patients with focal epilepsy had decreased REM sleep and SE. • Patients with generalized epilepsy had increased SWS and decreased SE. • ASM untreated patients with focal and generalized epilepsy both had decreased REM sleep and SE. • This study revealed statistically significant differences in sleep macrostructure between patients with epilepsy and healthy controls.

Highlights • Total resection of infected graft had no recurrence of infection. • 19.5% recurrent infections were in those with sub-total resection or revision. • There was increased mortality in those without reconstruction of peripheral arteriovenous access after graft resection in the follow up period (P<.004) • Reconstruction of peripheral arteriovenous access may be performed as soon as possible after the infection episode.
