1 Introduction Nocardia is an opportunistic pathogen widely present in the environment. It is a Gram-positive aerobic bacterium, weakly acid-fast positive, and was first discovered by Edmond Nocard in 1888. When the immune system is compromised, inhalation through the respiratory tract can cause pulmonary infections [1, 2], leading to suppurative or granulomatous diseases, with acute, subacute, or chronic courses known as pulmonary nocardiosis, which is mainly chronic in clinical settings [3].
