Graphical Abstract Herein, α-ketoglutarate-dependent aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenases (AADs) are repurposed for applications in biocatalytic oxyfunctionalization. Activity profiling of natural AADs enabled the synthesis of four types of α-and β-hydroxy acids with broad scope, high efficiency, and good selectivity.
