1. Introduction In the past few decades, many countries have implemented policies to develop renewable energy (RE) to reduce carbon emissions and combat global climate change. According to the International Energy Agency’s forecast, renewables have a strong chance of surpassing the installed capacity of traditional power sources by 2027. However, the fluctuating and intermittent nature of RE introduces several challenges to power systems, including a decreased reliability of electrical supplies.
