Abstract Background: The simplified Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (sPESI) has limited predictive accuracy for critically ill patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE) and multi-organ dysfunction and lacks dynamic pathophysiological indicators. This study evaluated the predictive value of the lactate-to-albumin ratio (LAR) for 28-day mortality in ICU patients with APE and explored its potential to optimize the sPESI score.

Abstract Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene. Although relatively common in Caucasian populations, CF is rare in China, where it frequently presents with non-specific respiratory symptoms, leading to delayed diagnosis and frequent coinfections with multidrug-resistant pathogens.

Highlights • The CURES is the largest prospective multicenter ongoing registry on PE in China. • The registry has enrolled 14,937 participants from 100 hospitals by 31 Dec. 2019. • The study provides characteristics, diagnosis and management of acute PE in China. • Both short-term and long-term outcomes (e.g. CTEPH) of acute PE are assessed. • A state-of-art centralized biobank has been established for further analyses.
