Navigating a Just Transition for China's Coal Regions
China is the world’s largest producer and consumer of coal. The surge in energy demand after China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 led to a decade-long “golden era” for the coal industry, (according to data published in the China Economic Information Center).
